Online Abend zum Thema Coltanabbau im Kongo (DRC)
In nahezu jedem elektronischen Gerät steckt das Tantal-Erz Coltan. Große Unternehmen importieren es zu möglichst niedrigen Preisen. In einigen Ländern jagen die Einheimischen nach dem vergrabenen Schatz unter miserablen Arbeitsbedingungen und ohne Schutz – aber sie bekommen fast nicht vom Preis. So zum Beispiel im Osten der Demokratischen Republik Kongo, in der Region Goma.
In „Talking about… Coltanabbau im Kongo“ berichtet der Masterstudent in Entwicklungssoziologie, Entwicklungspolitik und Geschichte Afrikas, Augustin Awounou, über die Situation der Bergarbeiter*innen. Welche Lösungen gibt es um Menschen zu schützen und Leben zu retten? Kann das deutsche Lieferkettengesetz zu einer Verbesserung beitragen?

The tantalum ore coltan can be found in almost every electronic device. Large companies import it at the lowest possible prices. In some countries, the locals hunt for the buried treasure under miserable working conditions and without protection – but they hardly get the price. For example in Eastern Congo, in the Goma region. In “Talking abou … coltan mining in the Congo”, master’s student in development sociology, development policy and the history of Africa, Augustin Awounou, reports on the situation of miners. What solutions are there to protect people and save lives?
